About Cedid
Cedid: Journal of Modern Turkish Literature Research is a peer-reviewed academic journal that aims to examine modern Turkish literature from all aspects and through an interdisciplinary perspective. Our journal features original research in literary genres such as poetry, novels, short stories, theater, criticism, and essays, as well as in fields like literary theory, sociology of literature, philosophy of literature, comparative literature, and cultural studies.
The scope of our journal includes the historical sources of literature, its transformations during the modernization process, and new theoretical approaches. By blending the historical development of literary texts with contemporary theoretical methods, Cedid encourages interdisciplinary studies by evaluating literature not only within its own boundaries but also at the intersections with language, culture, sociology, philosophy, and art history.
Deriving its name from the Arabic word meaning “new,” this concept represents the symbol of innovative pursuits and aesthetic transformations in Turkish literature since the late 19th century. In this context, Cedid aims to create a high-quality, permanent academic accumulation for researchers and institutions working in the field of modern Turkish literature, focusing on the innovative aspects of literature without ignoring the deep-rooted experiences of the past.
