About the Journal
Cedid will begin publication in 2025 and is an international, peer-reviewed journal published twice a year. The journal is prepared by an independent editorial team.
Publication Principles: In addition to modern Turkish literature studies, Cedid also includes book introductions and reviews, research notes, interviews, and translations.
Evaluation and Publication Process of Submitted Manuscripts
Editor’s Evaluation
All studies submitted for evaluation are first examined by the editor in terms of aim, subject, content, presentation style, and compliance with writing rules. Only studies that meet the preliminary evaluation criteria are sent to reviewers. The editor may seek expert opinion on a study if necessary before the peer review evaluation and may base their decisions on these opinions.
Peer Review Process
Studies that have completed the editor’s preliminary evaluation are sent to two independent reviewers from different institutions than the author and who are experts in the field. A double-blind peer review system is carried out for the manuscripts submitted to the journal. In case of a conflict of opinion, the opinion of a third reviewer is consulted. Reviewers are expected to state their views in a detailed, clear, and scientific manner.
Transparency
In Cedid, correspondence between the author and the editor is conducted transparently. Editor-reviewer correspondence is kept confidential. Reviewers are obliged to share ethical issues or academic conflicts with the editor.
Reviewer Selection
Selection is based on experience, field suitability, and institutional independence. Authors may request that certain reviewers not be appointed due to a conflict of interest.
What Should a Reviewer Who Receives a Manuscript Do?
- Check the email and respond to the proposal, considering the evaluation period and the suitability of the subject.
- If the reviewer thinks they cannot act fairly in case of a conflict of interest, they should notify the editor.
- Read the Editor’s Letter carefully; there may be special requests (such as evaluating only the method).
- If there is someone who provided support in the evaluation, their name should be reported to the editor.
Report Writing
Reviewers should focus on the original contribution and timeliness of the study. Evaluations should be critical, unbiased, and text-centered. Negative opinions must be detailed, and the grounds for rejection must be presented concretely.
Time Management
A period of 30 days is given for the evaluation. In cases where the time is insufficient, additional time should be requested, or the task should be returned so that the author does not lose time.
Conflict of Interest Principles
The editor does not send evaluations to reviewers in the following cases:
- Reviewers who have previously published a joint study with the author,
- Reviewers who have assisted in the preliminary readings of the study,
- Reviewers who are known to have had problems with the author before,
- Reviewers who will gain financial benefit or who work in the same department.
Reviewer Feedback and Decision
The editor looks at the strength of the theses in the reviewer reports and the justified suggestions. When making a decision, academic quality and the evidence presented are taken into account rather than the number of reviewers. According to the suggestions of the reviewers, the editor follows these paths:
• A new evaluation process after revision.
• Rejection of the study.
