Notes for Book Reviews

Cedid also publishes book review articles. The journal team believes that these articles occupy an important place within the academic publishing network.

Book review articles published in the journal are, like research articles, assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) number and submitted to the indexes in which the journal is indexed.

What Is a Book Review Article?

A review article is a text written to discuss a compiled or original publication (book, article, edited volume, etc.) that is introductory in nature while also offering critical commentary and contributions on the work under examination. A review article differs from a book report. A book report merely provides information about the content of a book, whereas in an academic review article, the content discussed constitutes only a portion of the text.

How to Write a Review Article?

The process is divided into two main stages:

1. The Reading Process

It is recommended to take notes on the following points while reading:

  • Aim: What does the author aim to achieve?
  • Interpretation: Are the analyses logical and consistent?
  • Context: Are the ideas grounded in a broad framework?
  • Gaps: Are there areas that have not been addressed?
  • Form: Is the style fluent and comprehensible?
  • Sources: What types of sources are used?
  • Literature: Does it open a new field or methodology?
  • Background: What is the author’s experience in the field?

2. Preparation and Writing

The writing plan should be structured as Introduction, Body, and Conclusion:

  • Key Points: Prioritize your findings by importance.
  • Main Idea: Identify a central argument (thesis).
  • Form: Prepare a brief abstract of approximately one paragraph.
  • Content Flow: Present strengths and weaknesses in a logical order.
  • Final Check: Reformulate the text for grammar and clarity.

Format and Technical Requirements for Reviews

  • The article writing guidelines and citation system (APA) apply.
  • The text length must be between 500 and 750 words.
